KWARA GOVT DISTRIBUTES 1,955 DIGITAL DEVICES TO 70 SCHOOLS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Kwara State Government has begun distributing 1,955 digital devices to 70 public senior secondary schools across the state’s 16 local government areas.

The initiative, implemented under the State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Employment (AGILE) project, is aimed at improving digital literacy and access to technology in public schools.

Representing Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the launch in Ilorin, Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi said digital literacy has become essential in today’s economy. He urged schools and students to use the devices to improve learning, creativity and innovation.
Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, said the intervention is designed to improve learning outcomes and equip students with relevant digital skills.

The facilities include desktop computers, printers, projectors and motorised projector screens. The beneficiary schools have also been provided with solar power systems, internet connectivity and CCTV cameras, while teachers have received training to support effective use of the technology.

The government said the distribution will continue and urged schools and communities to protect the facilities and ensure they are used strictly for educational purposes.
