The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man, Kosisochukwu Ibekwe, over the alleged murder of 23-year-old nursing student, Miss Vivian Chilaka, in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspect was arrested on September 4 following credible information received by the command.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ibekwe allegedly entered the victim’s building by climbing the fence with a ladder, reportedly intending to sexually assault her. Police said a struggle followed, during which he allegedly stabbed Chilaka with a knife, resulting in her death on June 14.
The police said the suspect has also made claims linking him to other similar incidents in the community, which are currently being investigated and verified.
The command also cleared the landlord who was previously suspected in connection with the case, urging the public to disregard the earlier suspicion.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
