KBSG DIRECTS WEARING OF LIVE JACKET FOR PASSENGERS ON BOARD WATER TRANSPORT                                                                                           04-10-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir idris, has directed that henceforth, any passenger on board water transport who refused to wear live jacket shall not be allowed into the boat to ensure his safety.

The Governor, stated this while condoling with the Emir of Yauri, Dr Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi and the families of the recent boat mishap which claimed many lives.

He said, his administration would collaborate with the marine police to facilitate effective water transportation to safeguard lives of the people using water as means of transportation in the state.

The governor donated Eight Million Naira (N8m) to the deceased families.

Responding, the Emir of Yauri, Dr Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi, appreciated the governor for the visit and said, the boat was carrying 17 passengers not as reported by the social media, adding that the body of eight people were recovered and the rescue team were doing their best to recover the remaining corpses.

According to the Emir, the Marine Authority had made several enlightenment on the dangers of water transportation especially when it rains.
