NASARAWA STATE SECURITY PREPARES TO DEAL WITH INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP THAT MAY CAUSE BREACH OF LAW                                                               13-01-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       Ahead of the Supreme Court Judgement on the 2023 Governorship Election in Nasarawa State, Security agencies in the State say they are fully prepared to deal decisively with any individual or group that may cause a breach of the law before and after the verdict.

State Commissioner of Police Mr.Shehu Nadada stated this during a meeting with heads of security agencies and leaders of the All Progressives Congress APC as well as the Peoples Democratic Party PDP

Mr Shehu Nadada explained that the meeting became necessary following intelligence at the disposal of the security agencies of purported plans by some groups to embark on violent protests if the judgment of the Supreme Court does not favour them.

He stated that security operatives had been placed on red alert for a swift response to any attempt to cause civil disorder before and after the court judgment.

The Commissioner of Police called on leaders of the political parties and their supporters to avoid unguarded utterances and celebrations that may provoke violence.

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC Alhaji Aliyu Belli and Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Mr. Adamu Bako gave assurances that they will ensure peace before and during and after the Supreme Court Judgment.

The leaders of the two political parties signed a peace accord to maintain law and order after the judgment.

The Supreme Court had fixed 16 of January 2023 for hearing on the appeal filed by the PDP Governorship Candidate in Nasarawa at the 2023 elections Dr. David Onbugadu against Governor Abdullahi Sule of the APC.
