FMYD EXPRESSES PREPAREDNESS TO PARTNER NDLEA, IN REHABILITATION AND SKILLS ACQUISITION  FOR YOUTH                                                         31-01-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                      The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has expressed its preparedness to partner the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in  rehabilitation and skills acquisition for Nigerian youths afflicted substance abuse.

The Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila  Ibrahim gave the assurance when she paid a visit on the Chairman of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) at the Agency’s national headquarters Abuja.

She expressed optimism that the National Youth Development Bank that would soon be launched by the Federal Government to empower Nigerian youths could also serve as a channel for rehabilitation of young Nigerians to get funding to build  on the skills acquired during rehabilitation.

Brigadier General Marwa in a remark painted a grim picture of the drug situation in Nigeria especially as it affects the youth population.

He stressed the urgent need for all stakeholders in  Ministries, Departments and Agencies,  to strengthen partnership with a view to curbing the menace of substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking facing the country.

The NDLEA Chairman explained  that the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration to lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty through  various skills acquisition was in the right step to discourage most of them from going into substance abuse.
