SDP Gubernatorial Candidate in Niger promises to create ministry for the old and PLWDs

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Social Democratic Party (SDP), governorship candidate in Niger State, Barrister Buhari Yakubu Yerima has promised to create a ministry for old people, destitutes and people living with disability if given the mandate in the 2023 general elections.

The party position was made known to the public at an engagement with the theme “TOWNHALL SERIES, NIGER 2023”, organised by National Youth Council of Nigeria in collaboration with Crusader Radio and Newsline Newspaper, held at U.K. Bello Arts Theater Minna.

Yarima alongside other candidates of the party told the public that SDP has (5) point agenda in her blue print aimed at tackling the challenges confronting the growth and development of Niger State since it’s creation over three decades ago.

The Governorship candidate who enumerated some of the challenges cripling the state to include bad governance and commitment from the side of leaders entrusted in the positions of authorities, advised citizens of the state to vote for credible candidates in the February 25 general elections.

Yarima also expressed his disappointment over the backwardness of the state, noting that all spheres of human endeavours in Niger State is begging for urgent attention.

He reiterated that if elected as the next governor of the state he will find lasting solution to insecurity, pay backlog of pension and gratituity to retiree’s, overhaul the education and health sector.

He added that he will revamp agriculture as well as provide enable environment for small and medium enterprises in the state.

Other candidates that participated at the town hall series include candidates contesting for House of Assembly and House of Representative positions.

In their separate keynote address, the organizers of town hall series, the President, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Niger State Chapter, Abdullahi .M. Ishaq, Mr Sony Otache, Oga Landlord Foundation and Crusader Radio as well as M.D Newsline Newspaper, Alh. Mohammed Mohammed, stated that the forum was a platform where each candidate is expected to highlight the vision of their political party to the electorates.

They enjoined the citizens of the state to come out enmass to participate actively on the programme, urging them to avoid the use of abusive language while asking questions.

The programme which started Monday 30th January 2023 is expected to end on Friday 3rd February 2023, featuring SDP, NNPP, PRP ,LP, PDP,and APC among others.
