The Gubernatorial Candidate of the Young Peoples Party (YPP) in Niger State, Mallam Larat Aliyu has highlighted their party’s 7-point agenda as Education, Transportation, Industrialization/Manufacturing, Agriculture, Health, Security, Ethical and Value system in the state if elected.
Aliyu said this at the political townhall meeting series held at U.K Bello Theater, Minna, which started on Monday, 30th January, 2023 and is expected to end on Friday, 3rd February, 2023, featuring YPP and other parties gubernatorial candidates contesting on the 11th March, 2023 Elections.
He assured that if elected as the next governor of Niger State in the forthcoming election, his administration will provide quality education at all levels as well as full ICT utilisation, adding that the government will ensure 60/40 ratio in favour of Science, Technology,Engineering and Mathematics across genders.
On Transportation, Larat maintained that YPP government will collaborate with federal government to ensure the provision of standard road and rail lines that connect all the local government areas with metropolitan cities and state capital for ease of movement people, goods and commodities.
According to YPP governorship candidate,” Agriculture Marketing Agency will be established to help coordinate marketing, particularly for the local farmer’s export their farm produce”.
He further stated that his health policy trust will be focused towards achieving universal health coverage, noting that he will make sure that individuals and communities have access to basic health care without having to struggle financially.
Aliyu also emphasised that the Emirate Councils and Community Policing will be fully involved for crime detection and control.
Similarly, the gubernatorial candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Alhaji Ibrahim Yahaya Sokodeke, who also featured at the town hall meeting at U. K. Bello Arts Theatre, Minna, assured Nigerlites that if given the mandate, within the first 200 days in office as the governor of Niger State, he will initiate mass housing to be constructed in various locations across the state.
Sokodeke also pledged to increase participation of women and youths to 35 percent in the executive, legislative and judiciary arms of the government.
The NNPP gubernatorial candidate reiterated that his government will leave no stone unturned to reduce infant maternal death at the primary and secondary health care facilities of the state.
He added that his government would increase coverage of immunization, improve mental and physical healthcare, as well as promote sanitation and safe water to reduce contraction of diseases through direct and indirect support to the health sector.
Sokodeke also promised that youths will be empowered to venture into the business of transportation by making available subsidized packages.
He stressed that security had been identified as the first social issue to be tackled, awareness can be created using media to enlighten people on how to effectively manage security information and reportage, finances will be paid to security agents to enhance social stability,peaceful habitation, physical and human development,and protection of lives and properties.
In their closing remarks, the President, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Niger State Chapter, Abdullahi. M.Ishaq, and CEO, Oga Landlord Fundation, Crusader Radio, Mr Sony Otache lauded the candidates for their excellent presentation and enjoined other candidates in other political parties who are yet to participate to key into the platform.
They also appreciated members of the general public for their large turnout.
