40 V.V.F. SURVIVORS IN KANO RECEIVE EMPOWERMENT PACKAGES

Kano state government has reiterated it’s commitment, to improving the living standards of women, children and people living with disabilities (PWDs).

The commissioner, ministry of women, children and the disabled Hajiya Aisha Lawan Saji, made the indication, during the graduation ceremony of 40 fistula survivors, at Kano Vesico varginal Fistula Rehabilitation Center Kwalli.

She explained that, the state governments swift response to the issue of inadequate beds at the V.V.F ward of Laure Fistula center located at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano, is a clear indication of how governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration is dedicated to effective healthcare delivery.

“which resulted in the immediate provision of more beds thereby raising the number of beds at the ward to 21”

She described Kano, as a state that, accords high priority to women, due to the roles they play in assisting the government, to achieve the desired objectives.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of women, Children and the Disabled, Dr. Sa’adatu Sa’id Bala commended Fistula Foundation Chairman, Mr. Musa Isa and urged beneficiaries to use their empowerment materials appropriately.

The founder, Fistula Foundation, Mr. Isa acknowledged the support being given by the ministry and appreciated the commissioner for gracing the occasion.

“Items distributed to survivors included,sewing machines,Grinding machines,Pasta machines,Goats,
detergent, clothing materials and food items”

Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke to Radio Nigeria, Hafsat Dawakin Kudu, and Hajara Uba, expressed their gratitude.

They urged government, to map out a law that, would prevent health workers especially those working at the maternity ward,from engaging in strike, saying that, it was what led to their condition after a prolonged labor.

The event organized by Fistula Foundation, in collaboration with Kano State Ministry of women, Children and the disabled, witnessed large turn out of survivors and well wishers, staff of the V.V F. center, government officials and the media.
