NAF DESTROYS STRUCTURES AND LOGISTICS OF TERRORISTS IN BORNO STATE 02-10-23
By Sadiq Aminu Nigerian Airforce says terrorists hibernating in the Timbuns on the fringes of Lake Tchad in Borno State were at the receiving end of NAF’s firepower as airstrikes obliterated their hideouts, destroying their structures and strategic logistics base.
According to a statement by Director of Public Relations and Information of the Force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet says Tumbun Fulani and Tumbun Shitu were struck between the 27th to 30th of last month, when activities of terrorists in the locations were confirmed to have constituted a threat to military formations and law-abiding Nigerians residing within the locations.
At Tumbun Fulani, terrorists were observed loading jerricans in 2 guntrucks concealed under shrubs, and thereafter, NAF aircraft were scrambled to interdict the location, believed to be a major logistics base.
Similar airstrikes were also undertaken at Tumbun Shitu after structures believed to be terrorists’ hideout were observed tucked under thick foliage. Additionally, 3 guntrucks with terrorists were sighted moving into the location, where the need to strike the location became imperative, resulting to the destruction of terrorists and their trucks.
The statement assures Nigerians that the determination of the Armed Forces to significantly limit the activities of terrorists in the North-East and other parts of Nigerians remains on course.
It adds that operational gains by the Armed Forces of Nigeria are indicative of improved synergy and co-operation by all security agencies as well as the unwavering support of all Nigerians.
