BOAT MISHAPS: 40 BODIES MISSING IN BOAT ACCIDENT IN KEBBI                                                                                  02-10-23

At least 40 people were missing following a boat Accident that occurred along River Niger in Yauri local government area of Kebbi State Monday.

Confirming the incident to Africa 247 in Birnin Kebbi through phone call, Yauri local government council Chairman, Alhaji Bala Mohammed said, the boat carrying 50 people and luggagges was coming from Kasabo village in Agura local government area of Niger State to Yauri in Kebbi State.

According to him, the boat capsized as a result of waves in river Niger saying, only 10 people were rescued while the remaining 40 and the boat were still under the river.

The Chairman, said rescued workers were making efforts to see that, the boat and the body of the people were found and recovered.

Alhaji Bala Mohammed, told Africa 247 that, Yauri and Agura local government areas have provided live jackets for the use of passengers using boat as means of transportation to avert its reoccurrence.
