OFF CIRCLE ELECTION: INEC  URGES JOURNALISTS TO BE CONVERSANT WITH ELECTORAL LAWS                                                                                 16-10-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has urged Reporters covering its activities to be knowledgeable with electoral law guiding its operations for them to inform the public better.
INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu stated this today in Akwanga, Nassarawa State during a two day Capacity workshop for INEC Press Corps on Ethical Safety Practices and Critical Issues relating to Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa States .
Professor Yakubu represented by the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee Mr Sam Olumekun the workshop would help in giving visibility to the Commission’s preparedness to make the electorate to take ownership of the political process.
The Chairman,INEC Press Corps,Mr Segun Ojumu said the training would equip members of the Press Corps to cover the forthcoming Governorship elections better.
TheTeam leader, Development Alternative Incorporated, DAI, Mr Elbling Rudolf urged the Media to always ensure they work according to the ethics of their profession.
The INEC Acting Administrative Secretary in Nassarawa State, Mrs Caroline Okpe urged the Media to ensure objective reportage to avoid chaos and violence in the society.
The INEC National Commissioner, Professor Kunle Ajayi urged the Media to eschew Fake news and Disinformation while reporting on electoral activities in the interest of all.
