INEC CHAIRMAN ASSURES PEOPLE OF IMO STATE THAT ALL VOTES WILL COUNT DURING THE NOVEMBER ELEVEN GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION                                                          03-11-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       The Chairman Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Professor Mahmood Yakubu has assured the people of Imo state that their votes will count during the November eleven governorship election in the area.

He gave the assurance during an Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security meeting with Heads of Security Agencies, Coordinator National Youth Service Corps and Director National Orientation Agency in Imo state.

Professor Yakubu said the visit was to assess the readiness of the state office of the Commission in conducting free, fair and credible election.

He identified insecurity and desperation among politicians as some of the challenges but however noted that he had received the assurances of the Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for the smooth conduct of the poll.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone Nine Umuahia Mr. Echeng Echeng reminded security agencies of the need to maintain professionalism during the election.

He assured the people of level playing ground noting that measures had been taken to ensure that election held in areas with security Concerns.
