VOTERS IN YENAGOA SAYS IT IS PEACEFUL                                                                                                              11-11-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                         Some Party agents, Voters, Observers have commended the peaceful conduct of the Governorship election in Yenagoa and the functionality of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS.

They gave the commendation while monitoring the process in some polling units in Yenagoa local government area of Bayelsa State.

At PU 28, Yenikien 3/Okaka Junction, Epie III Ward, Yenagoa, the Presiding Officer, Chidera Okoye said that the voting process commenced at some minutes after 9am.
Okoye added that BVAS deployed to the PU was working perfectly.

The party agents for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Jollyman Etizeta and that of Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), Cleanse Kinika also described the election as peaceful.

Mr Ambrose Kwokor, a Civil Servant, who voted at the PU also said that the election was going on peacefully.
“The election has been going on smoothly. There was no cause for alarm as the election so far has been peaceful. The BVAS is also working well.
He called on the people to remain peaceful till the end of the election.

Also PU 011, Yenada Market Square, Epie III Ward, Yenagoa 822 register voters, the polling process was observed also to be peaceful.

Mrs Serah Godfrey, a 60 years old civil servant woman, after casting her vote at PU 011, Yenada Market Square commended INEC for making special arrangements for elderly person to vote during election.
Mrs Godfrey, who recently had a surgery said that she came out to vote because of her Children.
“I had surgical operation, but I could not sit down at home without voting. I am doing this because I believe bit will be the turn of my children tomorrow”

However, a 86 years old woman Mrs Patience Okodo who came to the polling units could not find her name.
Mrs Okodo expressed her displeasure that the PU had always been her voting point but she was surprise to be told that her name was not on the list.
Mr Andrew Asaba, Businessman, also described the election at PU 10 Fanghe Primary School , Epie III Ward, Yenagoa LGA with 750 registered voters as peaceful and orderly.

Mr Asaba commended INEC for the good arrangements.

Also at PU 10, Agric Meeting Hall, Attissa 1, Yenagoa, the Presiding Officer, Ezeoke Chinozo, also said that BVAS was working properly.
An observer with the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution, Dr Dankogi Mohammed also described the process as peaceful.
