FRSC SETS TO CHECK OVERLOADING AND OTHER EXCESSES OF COMMERCIAL DRIVERS IN THE FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY                                                                                                        29-11-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                      The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC is to set up a Special Task Force to check overloading and other excesses of commercial drivers in the Federal Capital Territory.

FCT Sector Commander, Mr Muta’a Chorrie stated this while speaking with news in Abuja.

He said it was becoming embarrassing that some commercial drivers were bent on carrying two passengers at the front seat with no respect to traffic rules.

Mr Chorrie explained that despite holding several meetings with leaders of Transport Unions and relevant stakeholders the commercial drivers have refused to support efforts to check the menace.

He however appealed to residents to desist boarding overloaded vehicles and join the crusade.

The FRSC Sector Commander maintained that the ongoing operations against illegal and unauthorized motor parks was recording success as more personnel and vehicles have been injected into the system.

According to him, the ongoing joint operations with security agencies have raided and impounded some vehicles to put an end to indiscriminate parking and illegal rags in the territory.

The FCT FRSC Boss assured that the Sector would continue to work with stakeholders for the safety of lives and property on the highway.
