KANO JIGAWA CUSTOMS GENERATES OVER N6 BN IN NOVEMBER                                                                           04-12-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       The Kano Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says it has realized N6.9 billion revenue in the month November in Kano Jigawa Command .

The Comptroller Dauda Ibrahim Chana has disclosed this during an interview with journalist in Kano.

He said the command have also seized 2,817 bags of foreign rice,1,428 pieces of used tyres,250 Jerry can of 25 litters of vegetables oil, 690 cartoons of foreign soap, 429 bales of second hand cloths,1,226 packages of royal tramadol,470 block of compressed block of Indian hemp and 1,530 cartons of foreign spaghetti.

The comptroller said that the command had introduced more sensitive security measures to prevent all forms of smuggling in the area.

The Comptroller maintained that the command had already positioned officers at strategic locations to deal decisively with all those involved in the illegal smuggling business

He said the area command had ordered officers deployed to border posts in Maigatari in Gumel Local Government area of Jigawa to intensify efforts in preventing smuggling.

“The order was also sent to officers in Jeke outpost in Babura local government area of Jigawa state.

“We are battle ready to end smuggling through our various strategies, in place to pave way for the arrest and prosecution of smugglers”

Chana solicited the support of traditional rulers and stakeholders in sensitizing residents on the negative effects of smuggling on the nation economy.

“We have also reached out to youths in the border communities, to assist our field officers with required intelligence information that will assist in curbing all forms of smuggling activities.

“The command is no go area for smugglers as competent officers have been stationed on identified illegal routes of smugglers to ensure their arrest and prosecution.’’
