ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT SAYS THE MODULAR REFINERY SITED IN OWAZA  WILL COME ON STREAM BY NEXT YEAR                                                         17-01-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                        Abia State Government says the modular refinery sited at the Abia Industrial Innovation Park ,AIIP, Owaza, in Ukwa West Local Government Area will come on stream by next year.

The State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, revealed this while briefing the Africa 247 correspondent at the Government House Umuahia alongside some other members of the Executive Council on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting.

Prince Kanu said the modular refinery when completed would provide job opportunities for over 2,000 persons in the state, stressing that government was on its toes to ensure its completion on schedule.

Contributing, the Commissioner for Petroleum, Professor Joel Ogbonna, explained that government would take advantage of the untapped natural endowments to create wealth in the state.

On Health, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, revealed that there was a suspected measles outbreak in Arochukwu and Umunneochi Local Government Areas of the state but noted the ministry was putting measures in place to combat its wide spread.

Reacting to the reported extortion of motorists, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, said Governor Alex Otti had issued a directive to his Special Adviser on security to arrest all involved in any form of extortion and other touting activities in Aba and its environs.

He maintained that government would clamp down on all illegal motor parks, illegal markets and relocate those trading at unauthorized places to sanitize Abia environment.
