KANO STATE HISBAH REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO THE FIGHT AGAINST HIV/AIDS                                                                                                          29-01-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     The Kano Hisbah board, has reiterated its commitment to partner with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The director general, of the board, Alhaji Abba Sa’id Sufi made the disclosure while receiving members of a non-governmental organization (NGO), women’s Health Empowerment and Emancipation Initiative (WHEEI), in his office.

According to him, the board would provide all the necessary assistance to the NGO, in creating awareness about the menace of HIV/AIDS, to women and youths.

 

The director general stressed that it becomes imperative for Kano state hisbah, to support efforts aimed at boosting community health status according to the teachings of Islam.

Alhaji Abba promised to forward the request by the NGO, to the commander-general for prompt action, saying that, the state government would provide all the necessary assistance to ensure quality healthcare delivery.

 

The chief executive officer of the NGO, Hajiya Aisha Muhammad Umar pointed out that, they were at the board to further strengthen the existing cordial relationship, saying that, women and youths need all the necessary knowledge, on how to protect themselves against deadly diseases such as HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis among others.

She hinted that WHEEI would embark on a sensitization campaign across the 44 local government areas in the state, and would need all the necessary assistance from hisbah to achieve the desired objectives.

Aisha explained that the organization has provided community-based healthcare services in Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina states, and supported community health facilities, with basic healthcare equipment.

She noted that WHEEI would not relent in it’s efforts of assisting the less privileged especially women and youths to make them self-reliant.

Africa 247 reports that the delegation went around Hisbah headquarters, to familiarize themselves with facilities and the Sharia court handling cases.
