NDA TASKED ON IMPROVED TRAINING CURRICULUM TO PROVIDE EFFECTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY 05-02-24
By Sadiq Aminu The Nigerian Defence Academy-NDA has been urged to improve its training curriculum to prepare cadets surmount contemporary security challenges.
A pioneer cadet of the NDA, Major General Rabiu Aliyu retired made the call at the unveiling ceremony of the Academy’s crest and emblem in commemoration of its diamond jubilee anniversary.
Major General Rabiu Aliyu retired noted that the NDA had played pivotal roles in shaping Nigeria’s engagement at sub-regional, regional and global levels due to Nigeria’s commitment to peace and security.
He pointed out that over the past sixty years, the Academy had served as a centre of excellence for the training and commissioning of the best officers for the Nigerian Armed Forces and other friendly countries.
He encouraged the NDA to continue with the good work of promoting professionalism, enhanced quality training and integrating sound leadership.
Major General Aliyu advised cadets to be committed, dedicated, and determined to tackling the volatile, uncertain and ambiguous security environment.
Earlier in his address, Commandant of the NDA, Major General John Ochai explained that over the years, the Academy had continue to provide officer cadets with skills and values, necessary to meet the requirements of a military officer through training and character.
He maintained that the Academy remains steadfast in its commitment to excellence, innovation and development of leaders who will serve with distinction and merit.
The Commandant disclosed that the crest and emblem were meant to serve as a constant reminder on the great strides the Academy has made as a stakeholder in Nigeria’s defence architecture.
Major General John Ochai emphasized that the diamond jubilee anniversary was an avenue to celebrate the achievements of the Academy, honour its legacies and re-affirm its pivotal role in safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty.
He however saluted the courage and foresight of the institution’s founding fathers and past leaders for the effort in nurturing it to its present level.
Highpoints of the event were the unveiling of NDA’s crest and emblem and presentation of long service award to some members of staff.
