BORNO STATE GOVERNMENT WARN MDAs AGAINST FLOUTING PROVISIONS OF PROCUREMENT ACT 12-02-24
By Sadiq Aminu The Borno state government has warned that henceforth any ministry, department or agency that fail to comply with provisions of the public procurement act would be sanctioned.
Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Dr. Mustapha Malumbe gave the warning at a media briefing in Maiduguri.
Dr. Malumbe noted that all requests for funds from government ministries and agencies must be covered by approved provisions of the budget and certificate of no objection from the Bureau for Public Procurement BPP.
He observed that some accounting officers flout provisions of the Act which from now on will not be condone.
“I will like to draw the attention of all Accounting officers and Directors of Finance and Accounts that misappropriation of government funds will not be condoned and as such all Accounting officers and Directors of Finance and Accounts of all MDAs are strongly advised to adhere and operate strictly in accordance with laid down rules and regulations, failure to do so will result to their Expenditure Authorisation Form nor being signed ” Malumbe said.
The Commissioner explained that due to the prevailing economic realities, the projection of the 2024 budget will be reviewed to address the hardship faced by citizens especially the displaced persons.
According to him, the approved budget of 358.7 billion naira for this year will focus on security, agriculture particularly irrigation sub sector, education, healthcare, economic recovery through small and medium enterprises and resettlement of displaced persons.
Dr. Babagana Malumbe tasked departments and agencies of government to be more innovative and proactive towards revenue generation drive to achieve the targets of the 25-year Development plan of the state government.
