NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT SIGNS MOU WITH LAGOS, OGUN AND ONDO STATES ON MASS AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION 17-02-24
By Sadiq Aminu Lagos Ogun and Ondo states have signed a Memorandum Of Understanding with Niger state government for mass production of agricultural produce in the state towards reducing hunger and enhancing food security in the country.
Niger state Governor Mohammed Umar Bago stated this at the inauguration and lecture organised by a Non Governmental Organisation the Community Association For Grassroots Transformation CAGRAT held at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Center Minna.
Alh Mohammed Umar Bago explained that Lagos and Kano states are consumer markets therefore would enable them to produce as much as they can for those emerging markets to expand it’s revenue base.
According to him apart from making the people of Niger state richer it would also curb insecurity because the government owned land will now be used through the mechanise system of farming to achieve maximum results.
Alh Umar Bago said Niger state government has gotten a lot of investments interns of irregation land preparation seedlings and improved inputs among others and that his administration is desirous of helping the local farmer to overcome such challenges to excel.
The Niger state Governor however advised members of CAGRAT to look into the possibility of having an Extension Service Department that will reach out to it’s people in the belt of Niger from Kwara, Kogi and Kwara states to key into his agricultural transformation initiative to flourish.
He commended CAGRAT for executing impactful projects for the good of Nigerlites which he said is in line with the New Niger Agenda of his administration and called on others to emulate.
In his remarks President General CAGRAT Dagachi Muhammed Etsugaie called for the completion of Baro inland port which to them represents goldmine of growth possibilities and opportunities for Niger all the adjoining states and the entire North.
Director Communication and Strategy of the Association Engineer Mohammed Kailani called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to create an additional state in the North Central and return the position of National Chairman of APC to the region which he said by right belongs to them.
Papers were presented by resources persons ranging from revenue generation, agricultural transportation and many more.
