NLC GIVES NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT 1 DAY ULTIMATUM TO MEET ITS DEMANDS OR FACE INDEFINITE STRIKE                                                          20-02-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                      Organised Labour in Niger state has given the state government a one day ultimatum to meet it’s demand or embark on an indefinite strike action.

The ultimatum is contained in a statement that is jointly signed by the state Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress NLC Comrade Idris Lafene and that of Trade Union Congress TUC Comrade Ibrahim Gana and issued to Newsmen in Minna.

According to the statement effective 8am tomorrow Wednesday the 21st of February 2024 Niger state workers shall commence indefinite strike until their demands were comprehensively met.

Some of their demands according to the statement includes calling for the withdrawal of recent appointment of Vice Principal on secondment as Permanent Secretary to allow for career progression from within, and that the appointment of Permanent Secretaries who are not eligible and within the service will no longer be tolerated by Organised Labour in Niger state.

Similarly Niger state government must come up with a clear statement on payment of wage award for it’s Civil Servants, in addition to reversal of appointments in dispute such as Executive Director Finance and Administration as well as that of Operations and the Permanent Commissioners of Local Government Service Commission, Civil Service Commission and Directors General of some Agencies.

But the Organised Labour in Niger state however said there doors are open for negotiation within the window period.
