FUT MINNA PROMISES TO REMAIN AS BEACON OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE IN FOSTERING INNOVATION 22-02-24
By Sadiq Aminu The Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger state says it will continue to serve as a beacon of academic excellence dedicated to advancing knowledge and fostering innovation towards achieving the desired results.
Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta announced this while declaring opened the first ever International conference on Mathematical Modelling, Optimization and Analysis Of Disease Dynamics twenty twenty four, Hybrid, Virtual and Physical held at the Gidan Kwano campus of FUT Minna.
Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics Prof Abdullahi Mohammed, the Vice Chancellor charged participants to engage in rigorous discussions,share cutting edge resseach findings and explore new avenues for addressing the challenges of disease control.
Prof, Faruk Adamu Kuta the Vice Chancellor Federal University of Technology Minna further explained that this could be done through collaboration and interdisciplinary cooperation for the good of all.
In a keynote address the Director and Chief Executive National Mathematical Centre Prof Promise Mebine explained that International Mathematical Conference of this nature have continue to be veritable platforms and avenues for the generation and cross_fertilisation of ideas that encourage dedicated research whose results lead to the improvement of lives of people and national development.
In his remarks the Convener Professor Niniola Akinwande of the Department of Mathematics FUT Minna said the conference served as a way of encouraging researchers mathematical sciences all over Nigeria and abroad to disseminate their research findings which is part of requirement for academic growth.
On network problem, Prof Akinwande called on relevant bodies to redouble efforts in upgrading such facilities to enable them have a strong network backing to function effectively.
The Chief Host and Head Of Department Mathematics Prof Mohammed Jiya said Mathematics has delivered inculculable benefits to health and disease control while calling on them as scientific community to encourage students to take up the study of science especially the language of science which he said is Mathematics.
Some of the erudite scholars who spoke at the International Conference via zoom includes Prof Bashir Aliyu from Bayero University Kano and a Professor of Applied Mathematics and Computations Faculty of Military Science, Stellenbosch University South Africa Prof OD Makinde among others.
