NEW VACCINE CALLED (HPV) THAT TARGETS WOMEN AGED FROM 9 TO 45 YEARS GETS UNDERWAY IN NIGER 05-03-24
By Sadiq Aminu A new vaccine known as Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) that is principally targeted at women of child bearing age is to be introduce into the immunisation schedule of Niger state soon.
The essence of the vaccine is to prevent Cervical Cancer among women in the state.
Commissioner Ministry of Primary Healthcare Dr Ibrahim Dangana announced this at the twenty twenty four flag off of National Immunisation Plus Days, Distribution of Mama Kit’s, Distribution of Ready to Use Therapeutic food and the Distribution of Motorcycles to Local Government Areas held at the Palace of Emir of Minna.
Dr Ibrahim Dangana explained that already they have set up a technical working group because they are liaising with every stakeholder from formal and non-formal sectors, communities, traditional leaders and religious groups to ensure adequate sensitisation before rolling out the vaccine hopefully in the next few weeks.
He however commended the Wife of Niger state Governor Hajiya Fatima Umar Bago for donating five thousand Mama Kit’s for distribution to Primary Healthcare and Secondary Healthcare in twenty five Local Government Areas which he said will no doubt compliment government efforts in providing effective healthcare services.
On insecurity, Dr Ibrahim Dangana commended Governor Mohammed Umar Bago for his unwavering political will and support including security agencies and traditional rulers stressing that Niger state government will not fold it’s arms to allow the problem of insecurity to stop them from providing essential Healthcare services to it’s people.
Flagging off the distribution of materials, Wife of Niger state Governor Hajiya Fatima Umar Bago called on mother’s and caregivers to take their ward for Immunisation and vaccines across the twenty five Local Government Areas which she said are provided to them free of charge.
Hajiya Fatima Umar Bago described the programme as apt and crucial to the New Niger Agenda of present administration which has placed high premium on Health sector by providing an enabling environment and adequate resources to flourish.
The Emir of Minna Dr Umar Faruk Bahago attended the intervention programme targeted towards enhancing the well-being of Nigerlites while there were goodwill mesages from representatives of UNICEF, WHO NPHCDA and Niger state Revenue Board among others.
