DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY TO RESCUE ABDUCTED WOMEN- BORNO STATE REP MEMBER                                                                                          07-03-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     AA House of Representatives Member representing Bama Ngala Kala Balge Federal constituency of Borno State Mrs. Zainab Gimba has called for declaration of State of Emergency for the search and rescue of about three hundred women abducted by Boko Haram in Bama Local Government Area of the State when they were in search of firewood.
Mrs. Gimba who made the call under urgent motion of public importance noted that this is the second major abduction of women in Borno State, after the abduction of Chibok girls in 2014.
She emphasized that measures should be put in place to ensure quick rescue of the women to avoid the scenario of Chibok girls where they spent years in captivity before some of them were rescued.
Mrs. explained that the women were abducted when they went to bush in search of firewood for commercial and domestic purposes
Adopting the motion, the House referred the motion to the Committees on Defense and NEMA for further legislative actions.
