SSANU, NASU ISSUES 7 DAY WARNING STRIKE, MARCH 18, 2024                                                                                       11-3-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                        The National Executive Council of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities,(SSANU) and the Non Academic Staff Union have issued a 7-day warning strike to the government to pay the four months withheld salaries due to the nationwide strike.

The Federal government had withheld their salaries in line with the ‘No Work’ No Pay policy, when some Universities embarked on an eight months strike in 2022.

In an interview, the National President of the SSANU, Comrade Mohammed Ibrahim, explained that its members were excluded and other non-teaching University based unions from the four months payment.

Comrade Ibrahim said the exclusion was a clear violation and breach of the post-strike agreement with Government on non-victimisation of our members who participated in the strike

“Credible information available to us has it that the directive of Mr. President is for all University-based unions to be paid four months’ salary”. The National President noted.

NEC in session therefore calls on the relevant authorities of Government to immediately implement the directive of the President by paying the members the four months salaries.

Comrade Ibrahim also called for the implementation of wage award 25% and 35%, payment of the arrears, outstanding Earned Allowances.
