FRSC WILL HENCEFORTH WITHDRAW THE DRIVERS LICENSE OF MOTORISTS THAT FAIL TO COMPLY WITH TRAFFIC RULES AND REGULATIONS 25-04-24
By Sadiq Aminu Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC will henceforth withdraw the drivers license of motorists that fail to comply with traffic rules and regulations which results in road accidents in the country.
FRSC Corps Marshal Dauda Ali-Biu who stated this while addressing newsmen on the just concluded 2024 Easter and Eid-El Fitri Special Patrol Operations said already the Corps had commenced prosecution of recalcitrant drivers through mobile courts in all States of the federation and FCT to check the menace.
While attributing the poor attitude of some drivers to most of the recent accidents in some areas, the FRSC Corps Marshal appealed to motorists to avoid one way driving, Over speeding overloading and use of substandard tyres.
According to Ali Biu “May I bring to your notice that added to the conventional enforcement of traffic regulations on these trailer drivers, we have gone a step further by commencing prosecution of recalcitrant drivers through Mobile Court operations in the 36 States of the Federation and the FCT. Subsequently, more drastic measures including suspension and withdrawal of the national drivers license will be carried out.”
Dauda Ali-Biu who attributed the reductions in road accidents in the just concluded operations to new measures adopted by the Corps, said the agency would continue to collaborate with all stakeholders in the transport sector towards ensuring effective traffic management in the country.
The Corp Marshal explained further that “Allow me again to draw the attention of road users to the issues of imbibing moral and ethical rebirth, which have become a major issue in the country. We witness unwholesome attitude and misdemeanours on the roads as well. Such noxious behaviour and attitudes as outlined above must change.”
“At all times, drivers must be conscious of the fact that those they carry are breadwinners, family and friends to other people whose lives are precious to them. We must therefore exercise restraint and show respect to each other while driving.”
Ali-Biu also stressed that safety on the highway is a collective responsibility ” Passengers must always realize that they have the right to speak up anytime drivers refuse to comply with safety regulations while on transit. This is because; the more passengers begin to speak to the conscience of these drivers, the more they wake up to their responsibilities and drive with maximum safety compliance.
The FRSC Corps Marshal however appreciated support of the Federal government and urged officers and men to redouble effort to further reduce road accidents for socio economic development of the country.
