GOVERNOR INUWA YAHAYA OF GOMBE STATE SWEARS IN 11 LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMEN 29-04-24
By Sadiq Aminu Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state has sworn in the newly elected 11 Local Government Area (LGA) Chairmen in the just concluded local council elections.
Africa 247 reports that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC ) candidates won all the 11 chairmanship slots and 114 councillorship seats.
He urged them to put in place proactive measures to mitigate farmer/herder conflict.
He also implored them to extend the hand of friendship and collaboration to all people, irrespective of partisan, ethnic, religious, and sectarian differences.
Gov. Inuwa Yahaya said, as Local Government chairpersons, they were the closest to the grassroots, hence the need for them to bear great responsibility in promoting the wellbeing, peace, and prosperity of the common man through responsive leadership.
He advised them to ensure that their actions and decisions were guided by the collective interests of their constituents.
Alh. Inuwa Yahaya also expressed appreciation to the Local Government secretaries who, during the interim period, demonstrated remarkable dedication in ensuring the smooth operation of local government areas.
According to him, their hard work and professionalism were pivotal in maintaining stability and continuity at the grassroots level, thereby providing essential services to our communities without any interruption.
The Governor further charged them on the need to promote peaceful coexistence and safeguard the lives and property of their constituents.
He said that the success of his administration was built on the strong foundation of collaboration and partnership with the local government areas.
In her response, Mrs Fatima-Binta Bello chairperson Shongom Local Government Council promised to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering good governance.
