IPMAN ISSUES ONE MONTH NOTICE TO ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNMENT TO PAY DEBT OWED IT’S MEMBERS OR THEY WILL WITHDRAW THEIR SERVICES                                                                                                    01-05-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                              The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN ,has issued a one month notice to the Anambra state government to pay debt owed it members or they will withdraw their services in the state.

In an interview shortly after a meeting held in Awka, the Anambra state capital, the Chairman of IPMAN,Enugu Depot,Mr Chinedu Anyaso regretted that the Anambra state government has clearly refused to pay debt incurred as a result of supply of diesel and other services rendered to the government.

According to him, despite several letters that had been written after their Annual General Meeting on 24th of August 2023, the state government has refused to pay the debt.

He regretted that some of IPMAN members were facing difficulties as a result of the non payment of the debt which has resulted in banks taken over their businesses while some are seriously bed ridden.

The IPMAN boss noted that his members were already working hard on their own part to ensure that they comply with the 31st May 2024 deadline for payment of government levies as agreed upon but frowned over incessant issuance of demand notices and court summons by the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency despite existing agreement.

Mr Anyaso said Petroleum Marketers in the zone will continue to relate cordially with approved and legal government agencies but will not Corndon unauthorized agents harassing members at various filling stations in Anambra state.

He also hinted that IPMAN is expecting the Anambra state government to within one month start the reconstruction of a filling station at Onitsha that was partly damaged by the government.

Mr Anyaso said this has become urgent to avoid the menace and impending havoc upcoming rainfall may cause to the petrol station.
