By Sadiq Aminu                                                                    The House of Representatives has passed the 2024 supplementary budget for the Federal Capital Territory, FCT
The N98.5 billion 2024 supplementary budget for the FCT which passed second and third reading, the report was presented by the Chairman House Committee on FCT, Mr. Aliyu Betara.
Mr. Betara during the Plenary said in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution as amended, a communication from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the FCT supplementary budget was read at the plenary on 16th May 2024.
The Chairman House Committee on FCT, added that the communication sought approval for a supplementary budget to the FCT 2024 Statutory Appropriation Act of the FCTA of the sum of N98.5 billion
According to Mr. Betera, this budget is with a view to accommodate additional inflows from the FCT Internally Generated Revenue to address critical infrastructural development needed in the territory.
He explained that the Committee scrutinised the presentation by the President and arrived at the conclusion that the money was needed to develop certain infrastructure in the federal capital.
The House however adopted the report of the committee on a bill for an Act to authorise statutory revenue fund of the FCTA account to the sum of N98.5 billion.
