SOKOTO STATE GOVERNMENT DETECTS AND RESPONDS TO 7 DIFFERENT OUTBREAK OF DISEASES WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF IT’S ADMINISTRATION                                                                                                                    08-07-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 Sokoto state government says it has detected and responded to seven different outbreak of diseases within the first year of its administration in the state.

The state commissioner for Health, Hajiya Asabe Balarabe stated this at a ministerial briefing aimed at marking one year anniversary of the state government in office.

The commissioner said the diseases include Dangue fever, cerebrospinal meningitis, Cholera, Measles, Diphtheria and yellow fever.

She said the health ministry had succeeded in absorbing eight hundred and forty three indigenous nursing and midwives and restored their monthly allowance for effective Service delivery among other achievements during the first year under review.

In his contributions, at the ministerial briefing, commissioner for Land, Housing and Survey, Barr. Nasiru Aliyu Dantsoho said the state government has purchased 136 houses from Federal Government.

He said the buying of the housing units, was in fulfillment of governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto Campaign promises to the people of the state.

According to him, the state has constructed forty road across the state among other achievements recorded in the sector.

While the commissioner for Basic and Secondary Schools Education, Alh. Tukur Alkali said the state government has conducted an annual School census in a bid to collating data of schools, students and teachers in order to strengthen basic and secondary schools education in the state.

The commissioner also revealed that the state is working with development partners to commence a five year program aimed at repositioning the education sector for sustainable development.

Also speaking, the commissioner for Religious affairs Dr. jabir Sani Mai hula said the state is working with Imams and and Ulamas in order to maintain peaceful coexistence in the state.

He said the state also embarked on maintenance and building Juma ‘at
Mosques and Islamic schools across the state with a view to promote morals and spiritual guidance for socio-security and economic development of the state.

Earlier, the state commissioner for information Alh. Sambo Bello Danchadi said the aim of the ministerial briefing was to underscore the achievements made by the present administration to justified the trust reposed on them.
