PLATEAU STATE GOVERNMENT TO INUAGURATE TECHNICAL COMMITTEE ON INTEGRITY TEST FOR BUILDING STRUCTURES 14-07-24
By Sadiq Aminu A Technical Committee to undertake an integrity test on all public and private structures is to be inaugurated in Plateau State.
This follows the recent collapse of a school building in Bussa Buji that claimed several lives injuring many students and staff.
Governor, Caleb Mutfwang made this known when he inspected the collapsed school building and visited some of the victims receiving treatment in some hospitals.
Friday the 12th of this month would not be forgotten in a hurry for people of Plateau state, especially the residents of Bussa Buji community of Jos North Local Government following the collapse of a two storey building at Saint Academy leading to the death of twenty-two students.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang who expressed sadness over the incident, attributed it to human negligence.
He therefore, ordered the immediate closure of the school in addition to an investigation to be carried out and those found wanting to face prosecution.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang re-emphasized the need for people to ensure that the Executive order 003 recently released is fully adhered to, promising that a structural integrity test on all schools would be carried out.
Addressing members of the adjoining communities at the school site, Governor Mutfwang appealed to residents to ensure that they do not put monetary interest over human lives in all their undertakings and directed an immediate ban on all mining activities in the township.
The Governor thereafter visited all the survivors on admissions at the various designated hospitals whose bills are to be paid by the State Government.
