By Sadiq Aminu                                                              The Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Oil, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri has directed the completion of outstanding projects at the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna.

Senator Lokpobiri who gave the directive after a tour of the college, said activities would commence at the institution soon.

The School, established in 2009 is to impact the requisite knowledge and skills required for the growth of the Oil, Gas and Energy sectors.

Sitting on eighty -six acres of land, the institution has so far completed 63 projects out of the 87 outstanding, and also received a license to operate as a Private University by the National Universities Commission to concurrently run Post Graduate programmes.

Senator Lokpobiri said the Facility would not be allowed to waste having been established in line with global standard.

The Minister noted that when put to use, the cost of forex through education would be curbed as people would be trained in the country.

He also explained that with many African countries producing oil, the college would serve as a huge source of revenue for the nation and would be understudied by other countries.

The Executive Secretary, Petroleum Technology Development Fund, Mr. Ahmed Galadima said the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, was to take off with nineteen programmes spread across six departments and three faculties while working with three international universities for its curriculum.

Some of the facilities in the school include, An International conference center, hotel, power substation and water treatment plant.
