ARMY HANDS OVER CHIBOK GIRL, 330 OTHERS RESCUED VICTIMS TO BORNO STATE GOVERNMENT 22-07-24
By Sadiq Aminu The joint Taskforce,Theater Command North East, Operation Hadin Kai has handed over another 330 women and children including a Chibok school girl, Ihyi Abdul with her two children who were rescued from enclaves of the insurgents to the Borno State government.
Briefing Journalists shortly before the handing over at the headquarters Theatre Command, Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, the Theatre Commander Major General Waidi Shuaibu said all the captives were rescued along Bama and Pulka axis of the Sambisa forest.
He explained that the Chibok girl who is number 67 on the list was rescued with three months pregnancy in addition to her two children.
“Today we will be witnessing two events namely, the handover of the rescued Chibok girl and the handover of other women and children to the officials of the Borno State Government for further management.
The Theatre Commander noted that plight of the remaining Chibok girls will continue to be an issue of concern to the nation and in the Theatre, stressing that such concerns necessitated the conduct of several operations into enemies enclaves with the sole aim of facilitating their rescue.
He said a total of 19 Chibok girls have been rescued as a result of direct military operations.
“The theatre will continue to do its best to rescue the remaining Chibok girls in captivity in line with the strategic guidance from the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa and the Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Toaheed Lagbaja” Shuaibu said.
Acting General Officer Commanding GOC, 7 Division Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Abubakar Haruna said, Ihi Abdul was rescued on 23rd June, 2024 by troops of 22 Taskforce brigade.
“Ihi Abdul was on serial number 67 of the abducted Chibok school girls published by the federal government, and that, she was married out to Boko Haram Commander Abu Darda and after fleeing to Senegal, she was married out to 3 different husband’s”
According to the GOC, Ihyi has undergone necessary medical check up and will be handed over today to the Borno state government for further attention.
