NEW ISLAMIC YEAR: SULTAN DECLARES TUESDAY THE 6TH OF AUGUST 2024 AS THE FIRST DAY OF SAFAR 1446, AH                                                                                                  04-08-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                    His eminence the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Saad Abubakar has declared Tuesday the 6th of August 2024 as the first day of Safar 1446, AH.

In a statement signed by chairman Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs Sultanate Council Sokoto professor Sambo Wali Junaidu says the Sultanate together with the National Moon Sighting Committee across the country did not receive any report confirming the sighting of the new crescent of SAFAR on the 4th of August 2024, equivalent to Islamic calendar 29th Day of Muharram 1446 AH

The statement added that today the 5th of August 2024 is the thirtieth of Muharram and tomorrow 6th of August, so shall be the first day of Safar 1446 After Hijira calendar.
