MRS. DIDI WALSON-JACK ASSUMES OFFICE AS THE HEAD OF THE CIVIL SERVICE OF THE FEDERATION 14-08-24
By Sadiq Aminu Today, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack will assume office in her new role as the head of the Civil service of the Federation at the city of power, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Her predecessor, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan ceased to be the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation two days ago, a role she took up on the 4th of March, 2020.
Africa247 Correspondent takes us through some key issues before the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and expectations of Federal workers from her.
The Federal civil service since it was created, has worked with successive governments, implementing policies and programmes for Nigerians.
The new Head of Service, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack now leads the task of ensuring that the Federal workforce diligently administers proggrames for the country’s development.
The outgone Head of the Federal Civil Service, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, during her tenure invested efforts in programs and projects aimed at enhancing efficiency, which included the digitization project, provision of houses under the federal integrated staff housing programme, FISH, and the promotion of the mentoring and leadership programme, LEADP among others.

‘’workflow processes are now transacted digitally,we want to stop all these leakages, so it’s a gradual process.one of the goals of the LEADP is to identify, mentor and strategically deploy five hundred civil service leaders, servicewide by 2025. there is an ongoing plan to deliver another estate of a larger scale at Giwa Abuja’’
Meanwhile, workers are hoping that the new leader runs faster with the baton as they had made bucket lists of things that should be addressed by the incoming Head of Service, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack.
Some of the highlighted issues include resolution of the HND and degree dichotomy, improvements in the digitization drive as well as provision of more houses under fish.

The new Head of service at her swearing in ceremony by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the state House on Monday this week promised to build on the successes of her predecessor describing her new assignment as divine.
‘’I am looking forward to building on the existing reforms in a way that will bring in innovation and creativity so that the civil service bureaucracy can be more effective and more efficient to deliver on the renewed hope agenda’’
Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack was appointed a Permanent Secretary in 2017, and served in several MDAs including the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Power, Water resources and Education.
