170 GBV SURVIVORS, OTHERS TO RECEIVE ENTREPRENEURSHIP GRANT IN YOBE STATE                                                                 20-08-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                               About 170 survivors of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and other vulnerable Women and Girls have been scheduled to receive the entrepreneurship skills grant in Yobe.

The Executive Director, Portrait Lake Child Initiative (PLCI), Dr. Zara Yusuf made the disclosure at the opening of a skills training for entrepreneurship, at the Federal College of Educations’ Guest House in Potiskum, the Commercial Hub of State.

Yusuf used the forum to appeal to the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the knowledge acquired during the training, and also utilize the funds acquired properly.

According to her, the succor meant for beneficiaries chosen from the Nangere and Potiskum communities was intended to build their resilience as well as uplift their economic status to benefit their family and society.

A facilitator during the training, Faruq Abdullahi, took the participants through the learning objectives to understand the key concepts of business models and traits of successful entrepreneurs, among other topics.

He advised women to rise up and engage in all kinds of trade and other businesses, to avoid been dependent on men for their day-to-day upkeep.

The program, was organized by Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA) in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme with funding from the Government of Japan in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Portrait Lake Child Initiative (PLCI).
