By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  The Zamfara State House of Assembly has engaged in deliberations on two significant bills aimed at improving the education sector within the state.

During Tuesday’s plenary session, the Assembly considered a bill to amend the existing law governing the Zamfara State Teachers Service Board and a bill to establish the Zamfara State Secondary Education Board.

The motions for the bills were presented by the House Majority Leader, Honourable Bello Muhammad Mazawajje Tsafe. He emphasized the need to amend the Teachers Service Board law to enhance the state’s educational system, thereby enabling Zamfara to compete with other states in providing quality education.

The proposed Secondary Education Board is intended to support the efforts of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration in revitalizing post-primary education in Zamfara.

Various members of the Assembly who described education as the foundation of society and called for urgent legislative action, expressed deep concern about the deteriorating state of education in the state, urging for swift approval of the bills.

Honourable Nura Dahiru Sabon Birni, Honourable Rilwanu Marafa Nagambo Anka, Honourable Yakuba Almajir Bela, and Honourable Mustapha Usman Sadauki, representing Birnin Magaji, Anka, Bungudu East, and Shinkafi constituencies, respectively, were among those who contributed to the debate.

Following the discussions, Deputy Speaker Honourable Adamu Aliyu Gummi, who presided over the session, directed the Clerk of the House, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu, to read the bills for the first and second time. He also assigned the relevant House Standing Committees on Education, Justice, and Judiciary to review the bills and report back within two to three weeks for further legislative consideration.
