IPMAN RAISES ALARM OVER LIKELY FUEL SCARCITY                                                                                                                                       11-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                              The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has raised alarm over likely fuel scarcity despite increasing costs of petroleum products,

The association said that there appears to be disagreement between members of the association and the management of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL)

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin, the IPMAN national Public Relations Officer (PRO), Alhaji Okanlawon Olanrewaju, said that the current price which the NNPC is imposing on marketers is too high.

The IPMAN spokesperson, who said that NNPCL wants to sell at N1,010 to marketers, added that the price is even higher than what it sells at its outlets.

He explained that the problem IPMAN is facing in the downstream oil sector is confounding, adding that NNPCL is the sole off taker from Dangote oil refinery.

Okanlawon, noted that presently members have paid about N15 billion into NNPCL account for months and they’ve not given them the product.

The IPMAN spokesperson said that marketers took loans for business in banks, noting that the loans attract high interest rate.
