FEDERAL MINISTRY OF HEALTH HOLDS STRATEGIC RETREAT IN BAUCHI, REVIEWS SECTORAL ACHIEVEMENTS                                                                                                23-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, under the leadership of the Coordinating Minister, Professor Ali Pate, and the Minister of State, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has held a high-level retreat in Bauchi to deliberate on the Performance Management System within the health sector.

The retreat, which focused on evaluating the progress of the sector over the past year, was described by Professor Pate as a milestone in the journey to improve healthcare delivery across the nation.

Speaking to journalists at the end of the retreat, the Coordinating Minister highlighted several achievements recorded under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu across the country including expansion of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi and the provision of world-class medical equipment as significant strides in boosting healthcare services in the state and northeast subregion.

Furthermore, Professor Pate mentioned the upgrade of the Teaching Hospital in Azare and the Federal Medical Center in Misau as part of the federal government’s commitment to ensuring that common citizens have access to quality healthcare services.

He charged heads of Agencies and parastatals under the ministry to meet up to the responsibility to achieving universal health coverage inline with the renewed hope agenda of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

On the significance of the retreat, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare Dr. Tunji Alausa emphasized that the gathering was a critical step in holding the leadership of the sector accountable.

Tunji Alausa pointed out that the Performance Management System will ensure that the ministry’s goals are met efficiently and that citizens receive the best possible healthcare services.

The retreat is expected to enhance collaboration among stakeholders, fostering a more coordinated and effective approach to addressing the nation’s health challenges.

Africa247 correspondent gathered that the retreat which has in attendance Governor Bala Mohammed, drew over four hundred participants from thirty six states of the federation and FCT.
