DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF NAFDAC URGES THE MEDICAL AND HEALTH WORKERS UNION OF NIGERIA (MHWUN) TO END IT’S STRIKE                                                                                 21-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, has urged the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) to end its strike, which began on October 7, 2024.

Members of the MHWUN were demanding promotion of qualified staff, compliance with a 2022 agreement on allowances, establishment of a physical training school, and improved benefits and conditions for workers.

In a statement on Monday, Prof. Adeyeye warned that the strike poses risks to Nigerians and could harm the agency’s reputation and revenue.

She noted that while the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government-Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) had suspended its strike, MHWUN remains on strike.

Prof. Adeyeye pledged NAFDAC’s commitment to resolving the grievances and appealed to workers to prioritize the nation’s interests by resuming their duties.
