HEALTH WORKERS CONVERGE FOR TRAINING ON IDENTIFICATION AND TREATMENT ON HEPATITIS B&C AND LIVER CANCER REFERRAL 22-11-24
By Sadiq Aminu The National Institute For Cancer Research and Treatment, Department of Cancer Prevention and Control incollaboration with Kebbi State Ministry of Health, has organised a two day Capacity Building for Health Workers in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states on identification and treatment of Chronic Viral Hepatitis B&C and Prompt Referral of Suspected Liver Cancer holding in Kebbi State.
The training that draws participants from primary and secondary facilities from across Kebbi State, aimed at equipping health workers on detection early warning signs of Hepatitis B&C as well suspected liver cancer on patient.
It is also to enhance the capacity of health workers in the three states to provide better health education, screening and improve vaccine uptake for heptities B virus infection as well to enhance their ability to detect and refer cases of chronic viral heptities infection and liver cancer
The facilitator, Dr. Nasir Altine Dankiri, Consultant Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital Sokoto, stated that, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states are facing significant health challenges related to heptities B&C virus infection and it’s associated complications.
Dr. Altine Dankiri, said the prevelace of heptities B&C in these three states is high leading to an urgent need to improve the capacity of health workers at Primary and Secondary healthcare level to address this public health issue.
The training expect the participants at the end to become trainers, enabling them to cascade the acquired knowledge and skills to their colleagues at various healthcare facilities.
