ADDRESS HIGH COST Of LIVING- BISHOP AKINFENWA URGES FG 03-12-24
By Sadiq Aminu The Anglican Bishop of Ibadan Diocese, Most Reverend Joseph Akinfenwa, has called on the federal government to take urgent steps towards addressing the current high cost of living, particularly food inflation.
Addressing the ordination and Thanksgiving Service marking the 35th anniversary of the Abuja Diocese at the Cathedral Church of Advent, Life Camp Abuja, Most Reverend Akinfenwa said the current situation was becoming unbearable for the citizens.
The Anglican Bishop of Ibadan maintained that though the present administration inherited a lot of problems, there must be a way out to alleviate the plight of Nigerians.
According to him, it is difficult for ordinary citizens to eat and send their children to school while many small-scale ibussinesses have folded up.
He noted that the situation was beyond giving palliatives, hence the need for the government to take the youths, especially out of the streets.
The Archbishop maintained that the way to save the country from the present situation is to encourage and engage youths in farming to address the high cost of food in the market.
Addressing the ordained Priests, Primate Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba urged them to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and prioritize the welfare of their members.
Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba expressed optimism that if the newly ordained priests work diligently and promote religious harmony, there will be peace in the country.
The service was the climax of activities marking the 35 years of the Anglican Diocese, which gave birth to two other Dioceses of Gwagwalada and Kubwa.
