MEDICAL PRACTIONERS REMINDED TO MAINTAIN PROFESSIONAL ETHICS FOR EFFECTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY 18-12-24
By Sadiq Aminu Medical practioners in the country have been reminded to adheres strictly to the ethnic of medical practices for effective service delivery.
Vice Chancellor of Usman danfodiyo University Sokoto, professor Bashir Garba gave the reminder at the induction ceremony of seventy four graduates of 2022 and 2023 from the College of Health science of the University.
He noted that medical ethics are the moral principles and values that guide the behavior of healthcare professionals in their interactions with patients, colleagues, and society.
He said healthcare professionals have a duty to promote the well-being and best interests of their patients.
The vice Chancellor explained that respect for patients rights to make informed decisions about their care is central to achieving the needed results in healing patients.
Professor Bashir Garba argued that Patients have the right to receive accurate and unbiased information about their treatment .
He added that medical professionals should treat all patients with fairness, respect, and dignity, regardless of their background, culture, or socioeconomic status.
While leading the Oath taking, the registrar of Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria , Dr Fatima Kyari charged the new doctors to consider the new positions as call to service to humanity.
She urged them to consider their position as privileged and opportunity which thousands of people were yearning for in the country.
The Registrar enjoined them to be mindful of their significance in the society, stressing that their journey in medical field starts from the day of the induction.
Afriva247 in Sokoto reports that the inductees included 17 females and 57 males indigines of different parts of Nigeria.
The event was attended by Chief Medical Director of Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital, Prof. Anas Samir, Chief of Staff Kebbi State Government House, Alhaji Dahiru Maccido, Chairman Nigerian Medical Association Sokoto state, Dr Faruk Shehu among other dignitaries.
