CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF VISITS SOKOTO  STATE                                                                                                                                                26-12-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   The Nigerian Army Forces says the recent targets struck at Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa villages in Silame LGA of Sokoto state was not a mistake but a clear target aimed at destroying Lakurawa enclaves in the area.

Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa stated this in Sokoto at a Christmas lunch with troops of Operation Fansan Yamma aimed at boosting the morales of the soldiers.

According to him, the targets were positively identified as associated with the Lakurawa group which justified the military action.

General Christopher Musa said concern was raised by the general public which called for clarification stressing that all military operations are conducted based on thorough intelligence and reconnaissance missions.

The Chief of Defence Staff also allayed fear that Nigeria will not allow its borders to be used as a base to attack any neighbouring country.

He refuted the baseless claims by some online publications that says Nigeria will give some foreign forces space to attack our neighbouring countries.

The Chief of Defence Staff added that the coming year presents the armed forces with an opportunity to make significant progress in overcoming the challenges confronting the nation.
