A CHIEF MAGISTRATE REMANDS CHRIS NWAKANU IN THE KUJE CORRECTIONAL CENTER FOR DANGEROUS DRIVING AND ASSAULT ON FRSC PERSONNEL 17-01-25
By Sadiq Aminu A Chief Magistrate, Emmanuel Iyanna has remanded one Chris Nwakanu in the Kuje Correctional Center for dangerous driving, resisting arrest and assault on Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC personnel.
In a Court Session during the ongoing FRSC Special operations in the federal capital terrory, the FCT Sector Commander Mr Muta’a Chorie said the corps would no longer tolerate flagrant disobedience to traffic rules and incessant assaults on personnel during patrol.
The Sector Commander maintained that it took the combined efforts of FRSC and other security personnel to compel the offender, Chris Nwakanu to abide by the instructions after commiting grevious traffic offences.
Mr Chorie stressed that the chief Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna also prosecuted not less than Fifty other offenders for various traffic offences along Jabi – Airport Road in the special court session .
The FCT FRSC Boss noted that despite several sensitization campaigns, motor park rallies and town hall meetings with major stakeholders in the transport sector, Most of the commercial drivers along the Zuba- Gwagwalada, Zuba – Kubwa and Nyanya – A.Y.A Express Way still engage in overloading, overspeeding and total disobedience to traffic rules and regulations .
He assured that FRSC would Carry out its assignment within the ambit of the law to punish and prosecute traffic offenders in the Six area councils of the FCT.
He appealed to residents to join the FRSC’s efforts in checking the excesses of motorists and make FCT roads safe for socio economic activities
