By Sadiq Aminu                                                              The Kano State House of Assembly KNHA has passed the Kano State Landscaping and Beautification Agency Bill 2025, which aims to promote cleanliness and beauty in the state.

This was sequel to deliberations on the committee of the whole and third reading of the bill by the deputy clerk Alhaji Nasiru Magaji during plenary presided over by the speaker Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

The bill imposes a fine of N25,000 on anyone caught littering, urinating, or defecating in public places, under bridges, or in other unauthorized areas.

According to the majority leader, Alhaji Lawan Hussaini Dala, the agency will also prevent the indiscriminate dumping of trash and spits from moving vehicles, checkmate open defecation, and make the city look beautiful.

He explained that, the agency established by the bill will be responsible for setting up gardens, planting flowers, and preventing indiscriminate dumping of refuse on roundabouts, drainages, bridges, and roads.

The majority leader pointed out that, the agency will be governed by a board comprising a chairman and ten members, including professionals like architects knowledgeable in engineering and beautification.

In a related development, the House has called on the state government to construct a road from Kwanar Masalachi-Giddan Kuka-Yan Tipper-Badawa layout in Nassarawa LGA.
