NIGERIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER VISITS KUWAIT TO STRENGTHEN BILATERAL TIES                                                                           05-02-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has arrived in Kuwait on a historic working visit from February 5 to 8, 2025.

A statement by the Special Assistant to the Minister on Media and Communications Strategy, Alkassim Abdulkadir says the visit marks the first official visit by a Nigerian Foreign Minister to Kuwait since diplomatic relations were established 55 years ago.

It explains that the visit aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, and diplomacy.

Ambassador Tuggar is scheduled to meet with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Ambassador Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, to sign crucial agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).

He will also hold high-level discussions with His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister of Kuwait, and pay a courtesy visit to His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait.

The talks will focus on strengthening diplomatic engagements, establishing a Joint Commission for Cooperation, and advancing partnerships in economic development, science, and technology.

As part of the visit, Ambassador Tuggar will engage with key stakeholders, including Kuwait’s Minister of Petroleum, Tariq Suleiman Al-Roumi, and the Director-General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Waleed Al-Bahar.

He will also attend a business forum hosted by Kuwaiti authorities, where top investors and business leaders will explore new avenues for economic collaboration.

The visit is expected to bolster Nigeria-Kuwait relations and open new opportunities for mutual growth.
