23 KILLED, 48 INJURED IN DEADLY AUTO CRASH IN KANO 14-02-25
By Sadiq Aminu A devastating auto crash occurred on the Kano-Maiduguri Road, under the Muhammadu Buhari Interchange Flyover, Hotoro, leaving at least 23 people dead and 48 others injured.
The accident involved a trailer carrying goods and passengers, which lost control due to overspeeding and crashed under the bridge.
According to the Kano State FRSC Sector Commander, Umar Matazu, the accident happened on February 13, 2025, at around 9:50 p.m.
The FRSC quickly dispatched personnel and vehicles to the scene to rescue the victims.
The sector commander explained that the passengers involved were 67 adults and four children, totaling 71 people. Unfortunately, 23 people lost their lives, while 48 others sustained serious injuries.
The injured were rushed to the Murtala Mohammed General hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Umar Matazu extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the quick recovery of the injured victims. He also warned drivers and the general public against overloading trailers with goods, animals, and passengers, emphasizing that such practices increase the risk of fatal crashes.
The FRSC has cleared the obstruction caused by the accident, and traffic has been restored to normal flow.
The commission remains committed to ensuring safety on Nigerian roads and urges all motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent further loss of lives.
