KANO STATE GOVERNMENT CONSTITUTES WHITE PAPER DRAFTING COMMITTEE                                                                                                                04-03-25

By Sadiq Aminu.                                                      The Kano State Government has established a White Paper Drafting Committee to review the recommendations made by the Commission of Inquiry regarding the incidents of violence, destruction, and loss of life that occurred in August last year.

Chairing the inaugural session, Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Alhaji Umar Farouq Ibrahim emphasized the committee’s task of examining the report and providing further recommendations to prevent future occurrences.

He described the events as a “bitter experience” that had significant economic and human costs.

The six-member committee, chaired by Alhaji Dan Asabe Yahaya, comprises experts from various ministries and departments. Other members include:

– Alhaji Aliyu Yakubu Garo: Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports
– Dr. Hadi Bala: Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education
– Barrister Salisu Marmara: Ministry of Justice
– Mallam Yahaya Umar: Director, Planning, Research, and Statistics, Kano State Pension Fund Trustee
– Jamilu Usman: Assistant Secretary II, REPA Directorate, SSG’s Office

The committee has assured the government of its commitment to diligently reviewing the report and providing recommendations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
