TOM IKIMI LED DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE RECOMMENDS THE EXPULSION OF THE EMBATTLED NATIONAL SECRETARY OF PDP                                                                         13-03-25

By Sadiq Aminu.                                                        As the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party intensifies, the National Disciplinary Committee, headed by former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Tom Ikimi has recommended the expulsion of the Embattled National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, from the party.

Senator Anyanwu is an ally of former Rivers State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike and has been at the centre of a judicial tussle over the post of national Secretary.

In a letter to the PDP acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, the disciplinary committee emphasized that despite being given the opportunity, Senator Anyanwu failed to deny or defend himself against the petition filed by the Young Generation Caucus of the party.

The Ikimi committee stated that “Having listened to the petitioners and the evidence led, including the oral testimonies of Mr. Afolabi Adekanbi and Dr. Alex Adum, it was established that Senator Samuel Anyawu, was engaged in anti-party activities”

Since the 2023 presidential election, the PDP has faced internal conflicts, with accusations bothering on members undermining the party’s interests and calls for disciplinary actions.

In response, the PDP NWC established a disciplinary committee to handle complaints, hear all sides, and make recommendations to the National Executive Committee.
